Molecular Survey of Plasmodium falciparum Drug Resistant Genes Among Pregnant Women Attending ANC at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital (MAWCH) Sokoto, Nigeria

Research was conducted on the molecular survey of drug resistant Plasmodium falciparum malaria among pregnant women attending ante natal care (ANC) at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital (MAWCH) Sokoto, Nigeria from February, 2020 to May, 2020. Blood samples 200 who came for ANC in were collected Questionnaire administered. Thin thick blood film microscopy mono clonal antibody specific RDT kit used detect falciparum. P. positive dried investigated presence Pfmdr1 Pfcrt genes using PCR protocol. Results investigation revealed 26.30% 89.50% prevalence respectively, while 4 both representing 21.05% prevalence. Prevalence do not associate (p>0.05) with any parameters tested. Spread mutant observed this study may be attributed continuous use antimalarial drugs that parasite developed to. Pregnant should early ante-natal booking attend clinic regularly, control programs carried out state.
